Healthcare and Its Relationship with Psychological Pain Among Cancer Patients at the Oncology Hospital in Misurata

Abstract

The current research aimed to understand the relationship between healthcare and psychological pain among patients visiting the oncology hospital in Misurata, and to assess the level of psychological pain according to variables such as gender, age, type of treatment, and duration of illness. To achieve the research objectives, a descriptive method was used, applying the Psychological Pain Scale (DASS21) and the Healthcare Questionnaire (Brahmia, 2018) on a sample of 74 patients at the Oncology Hospital "National Institute for Cancer Treatment" in Misurata. The results indicated a statistically significant negative correlation between healthcare and depression as a dimension of psychological pain among cancer patients at the oncology hospital in Misurata, with significant differences in depression levels among patients according to their age group. However, there were no statistically significant differences in anxiety levels among patients based on their age group. The research results also showed that the level of healthcare received by cancer patients at the oncology hospital in Misurata was high.
