This study addresses the topic of asphalt mix design, focusing on the Marshall Method as one of the most important and widely used approaches in asphalt pavement design. Asphalt mix design relies on the precise blending of aggregates and bitumen, with careful control of component proportions to achieve the desired balance between stability, deformation resistance, and long-term performance under varying traffic loads and environmental conditions. In this research, laboratory tests were conducted on aggregate, bitumen, and asphalt mix samples. The results showed that the aggregates used possess the necessary characteristics in accordance with applicable specifications, and the bitumen yielded acceptable results based on the relevant standards. Several asphalt mixtures were prepared with varying bitumen contents: 3.5%, 4%, 4.5%, 5%, and 5.5%. Through analysis of the results of mix properties, -the optimal bitumen content providing the best asphalt mix performance was determined to be 4.2%. At this percentage, the mix exhibited the following values: 4.0% air voids, 1100Kg stability, 2.54 mm flow, 68.0% voids filled with bitumen (VFB), and 13.25% voids in mineral aggregate (VMA)- all within the limits of the standard specifications. To verify the accuracy of the design, a sample was taken from the central mixing plant using the same gradation and optimal bitumen content as determined in the design. An extraction and Marshall test were conducted to ensure that the obtained results were consistent with the adopted design analysis. The study concluded with an emphasis on the importance of tailoring asphalt mix designs to local conditions and national specifications to achieve high performance and minimize future maintenance needs. Practical recommendations were also provided to support engineers and technicians in implementing more efficient and higher-quality designs in pavement projects.
